Agricultural extension services involve the transfer of knowledge, technologies and practice via farmer training. Farmer empowerment is a key aspect of extension, as the aim is not only to inform farmers on the use of new agricultural interventions, but rather to equip them with the ability to make farm management decisions on the basis of the range of available options (FAO 2013).
