According to the World Food Programme (WFP 2015), malnourishment is the deficiency of macro-nutrients or micro-nutrients and occurs when a person's diet lacks sufficient levels of either - even if they have enough to eat. Not only is malnutrition the world's largest contributor to disease, early age malnutrition impairs physical and mental development throughout childhood. This can have long-lasting negative impacts throughout a person's life-course, making the first years of life a critical window for providing sufficient quality food.
